New York sportsbooks generate $214.4m in July revenue
July’s handle was down 16.7 per cent month-on-month.
U.S.- New York’s eight online sportsbooks generated $214.4m in gross gaming revenue during July, according to figures from the New York Gaming Commission. Operators took $1.88bn in bets, resulting in an 11.4 per cent hold.
The July results marked a significant change from June, when sportsbooks accepted a record $2.25bn in bets but retained only 5.19 per cent of the handle for $116.8m in revenue. July’s revenue increased approximately 83.5 per cent even as wagering volume fell by around 16.7 per cent. The handle was 34.3 per cent higher year over year and revenue was up 37.8 per cent.
Six of the state’s eight operators reported higher revenue than in June. The 2026 FIFA World Cup, held across North America, was an additional source of betting activity during a period when wagering traditionally slows following the end of the NFL, NBA and NHL seasons, leaving Major League Baseball as the main major US sporting attraction.
Results in three-way moneyline markets helped sportsbooks achieve a stronger hold, including Spain’s victory over Argentina in the World Cup final.
DraftKings topped the market in handle for a second consecutive July, taking $ 661.5 m in wagers. Its 11 per cent hold translated into $72.9m in gross revenue, the second-highest figure among New York operators. FanDuel generated the state’s highest revenue at $86.1m, roughly twice its June result. The operator handled $ 651.2m in wagers and posted a 13.2 per cent hold.
Fanatics Sportsbook recorded $21.1m in revenue, a 129 per cent increase from June, after taking more than $221.6m in bets. BetMGM generated $15.6m from a $138.3m handle and an 11.3 per cent hold.
