New York sports betting handle reaches $1.17bn in June
The state’s sports betting handle increased by 11.3 per cent year-on-year.
US.- New York’s sports betting handle was $1.17bn in June, up 11.3 per cent year-on-year but 14 per cent lower than in May of this year ($1.36bn). According to the New York Gaming Commission, revenue reached $103.8m, down 31.7 per cent from May but up 42 per cent compared to June 2022.
New York’s operators finished June with an 8.6 per cent hold, which was down 2.5 points from the previous month. Reported tax revenue was $52.9m, the lowest since August 2022.
FanDuel remained the most popular sportsbook in New York, with $47.2m in revenue from a $418.1m handle. In second place was DraftKings, which registered $37.1m from $488.5m. Caesars generated $8.6m from a $124.8m handle, while BetMGM recorded $7m from $75.4m.
Legal online sports betting in New York began last year, and the state became the US’s largest market. Year-to-date, more than $9.1bn has been legally wagered with online sportsbooks. That figure is 6.67 per cent higher than the $8.5bn gambled in the first half of 2022. Sportsbooks have made nearly $51m in revenue after taxes.
