New York to discuss sports betting next week

The New York Gaming Comission will look into the sports betting segment and how to regulate it during a meeting next Monday.

US.- Nowadays, it seems that sports betting is all the industry can think about when it comes to the US market as it has the potential to be a major success… if it’s properly regulated. That’s why the New York Gaming Commission (NYGC) will discuss the segment in order to assess different possibilities to launch sports betting in the state.

Many states have already legalised the segment but New York is still struggling to set the rules for it, nearly eight months after the Supreme Court of the US struck down PASPA. However, the NYGC is aiming at getting them ready in order to begin the 60-day comment period required before the final vote can take place and enforcement made.

While New Jersey is already enjoying the benefits of the sports betting market, the authorities are rushing in New York in order not to lose any more money to its neighbour. Should this push ultimately succeed, the segment is expected to be ready for launch next May.
