New York casinos given date to reopen
Governor Andrew Cuomo has finally announced an opening date for casinos after nearly six months of closure.
US.- Gov. Cuomo has announced that casinos in New York state will be able to reopen next Wednesday, September 9, provided that they have the correct protocols in place.
Sanitary regulations include a reduced capacity of 25 per cent, obligatory wearing of face masks and a reduced number of slot machines to ensure social distancing can be carried out effectively.
Casinos will also be responsible for ensuring their air filtration systems meet a defined standard.
The news comes after casino workers took to the streets to protest against continued closures, prompting Cuomo to announce earlier this week that good news was coming.
Workers are not the only group to benefit from the casinos reopening, since local governments are keen to recoup tax revenues.
