New proposals for Goa casinos
Congress Panjim candidate Girish Chodankar is presenting a new plan for the casino industry in Goa.
India.- Candidates for the Congress of Panjim, the capital city of Goa State, have introduced several amendments to restructure the local legislation. Girish Chodankar, one of the candidates, announced the presentation of his plans for Goa casinos by this afternoon.
“I would like to announce that if elected, I will shift my base to Panjim and will work from my newly-inaugurated office,” Chodankar revealed to voters during his campaign in Miramar and parts of St Inez. The candidate will also present his ideas in Altinho, Boca-de-Vaca and near Mahalaxmi temple, as published by the news outlet Herald Goa.
“Chodankar is not from Panjim and hence he wanted to personally meet each and every voter and introduce himself,” explained Congress North Goa district committee president Amarnath Panjikar. However, the candidate is set to reorganise the gaming industry in Goa by shifting the offshore casinos vessels out of River Mandovi.
The Election Commission asked the Commercial Tax Department to pay attention to casino activity as the elections are getting closer to Panaji. Local media reported that the request comes to make sure that money is not getting misused during campaigning for the by-polls. The government is working on new gaming policies that eliminate casino vessels from the language, making sure that floating casinos cannot exist in the state anymore. The new measures will be applied to the five existing off-shore casinos.
Chodankar’s campaign is supported by AICC secretary and Goa desk in charge Dr Chellakumar, State party president Shantaram Naik, Leader of the Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar, MLAs Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco, Luizinho Faleiro, Dayanand Sopte, Nilkant Halankar.
