New Jersey lawmakers to consider gaming-related bills

US.- New Jersey lawmakers will consider a variety of gaming-related bills as a new legislative session begins. The debates will include different topics, including sweepstakes sports betting and casinos.
Senate Bill 1500 proposes to regulate online sweepstakes casinos. In August, Governor Phil Murphy signed Assembly Bill 5447 into law, which bans dual-currency sweepstakes.
Another proposal, Senate Bill 2334, would establish an annual sports wagering licence fee and direct funds from such fees to the Council on Compulsive Gambling and gambling addiction treatment programs. Senate Bill 2160 proposes to ban micro bets, while Senate Bill 1170 would prohibit sports wagering licensees from offering player-specific proposition bets on college sports.
Senate Concurrent Resolution 31 proposes to amend the state Constitution to allow slot machine gambling at horse racetracks, while Senate Concurrent Resolution 66 proposes to authorise the Legislature to establish casino gaming at Monmouth Park Racetrack and Meadowlands Racetrack. Senate Bill 212 and Senate Bill 698 address smoking in casinos.
Recently, Governor Murphy signed a bill requiring state-run schools to work with the Council on Compulsive Gambling to raise awareness of gambling risks. The proposal passed both chambers unanimously.
Under bill A1715/S3184, all public colleges, universities, and community colleges in the state are required to invite and facilitate the presence of the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey on their campuses at least once per semester.
