New Hampshire communities in favor of Keno
A new report revealed that seven of ten communities in the state voted in favor of allowing Keno.
US.- New Hampshire Union Leader revealed that seven out of 10 communities voted in favor of allowing electronic bingo game keno in bars and restaurants. The move would raise money for social causes such as full-day kindergarten.
Berlin, Claremont and Manchester were the communities that are more in favor of keno than any other in the state: Berlin voters expressed their support with a 72 percent, approximately 1k residents in favor in contrast to the 407 that voted against it. Moreover, Claremont won by a 2-1 margin, or 866 to 440 votes. Manchester’s results were also different, as the approval was 62, compared to the 38 percent that voted against keno.
Other communities like Nashua and Laconia also passed the vote but by a slight difference, as the percentage was 55 percent in favor in Nashua and only 100 votes of difference in Laconia. Voters that live close to the borders with Vermont and Maine rejected the game.
Dover Mayor Karen Weston said: “I’m surprised that the Keno didn’t pass. I know a lot of people were against it, but it was funding for full-day kindergarten.” The local Republican Governor Chris Sununu signed into law the proposal to fund kindergarten programs back in July, but let communities decide if they allowed the game modality or not.
