Nevada revenue down 2%
According to the NGCB, Nevada’s GGR was down 2.05 per cent to US$1 billion in January 2018.
US.- On October 1st 2017 Stephen Paddock opened fire at a crowd attending a country music concert in Las Vegas from his hotel room at the Mandalay Bay hotel. The tragedy not only took many lives but has also led to The Strip losing lots of money as it struggles to gain back the public’s trust.
In January, gaming win reached US$1,015,027,320, but was still 2.05 per cent under the figure posted during the same month last year, the Nevada Gaming Control Board reports. The decline was mainly due to an 8.89 per cent drop in The Strip alone, going from almost US$609 million to US$554 million.
According to the NGCB report, the state collected US$68,641,997 in percentage fees during February 2018, based upon the taxable revenues generated in January 2018. That marks an 8.74 per cent drop from February 2017, when percentage fee collections were US$75,219,256.
The Chinese New Year played its own role in the decrease, analysts say, as the popular tourist draw fell in February this year. In 2017, the holiday was celebrated in January, which helped boost its figures.
