Nevada casinos report disappointing December
With a 25 per cent capacity cap in place, Nevada’s gaming properties saw revenues fall to their lowest since August 1997.
US.- Nevada casinos have reported disappointing figures for December 2020, with sports betting the only gaming segment to show year-on-year growth.
According to figures released by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, casinos earned a collective revenue of $683.7m last month, down by 35 per cent from the $1.05bn collected in December 2019.
December’s revenues were also down on the previous month by $87.5m.
In fact, it was the lowest monthly revenue reported since August of 1997.
Looking at specific segments, slots revenue was down more than 31 per cent year-over-year, while the table game revenue was down by 37 per cent.
The only segment that saw revenue increase year-on-year was sports betting, up 11.7 per cent to $40.6m. However that number was down from November’s state record $61.8m.
Nevada casinos are currently obliged to operate at 25 per cent capacity. The reduced capacity limit was first announced in December but has been extended various times.
