NagaCorp insists on Australia
NagaCorp is studying a casino proposal in the Maroochydore City Centre, Australia.
Australia.- New casino proposals arrive to Australia as NagaCorp keeps insisting in developing an integrated resort in the country. According to official press, the Cambodian gaming company NagaCorp has landed in Australia in order to study a potential land for the casino and hotel project in the Maroochydore City Centre.
The NagaCorp delegation in Australia included owner Dr Chen Lip Keong and Timothy McNally, who serves as the chairman. Also part of the party was Gary Andrews, business development director of China Railway Engineering Corporation and Paul Steelman, founder of Steelman Partners.
Currently the land needs the approval of the local government and CBD developer SunCentral. CEO of the company John Knaggs said it had received interest from multiple companies since EOIs opened for the core commercial precinct in the Maroochydore City Centre. “There has been strong interest in the new CBD and meaningful discussions are continuing with numerous parties,” he stated. “I’ve indicated that in my view there is a very strong interest in Cairns and again a very strong opportunity for something to happen in Far North Queensland.”
Two licenses are currently available to operate casinos in Queensland, after the government rejected the US$2.3 billion project from ASF. The Queensland Government rejected the casino planned by the Chinese venture ASF Consortium late last month as the proposal didn’t comply with the desired regulations in the area. Pitt believes that Cairns could be one of the possible destinations to land a license.
