Mississippi sports betting handle reaches $83.5m in October

US.- As predicted by the AGA, sports betting records are being smashed across the US. With $83.5m wagered on sports at the state’s 26 commercial casinos, Mississippi’s October total was up 52.3 per cent from September ($54.8m) and up 36.5 per cent compared to the $61.2m recorded in October 2020.

It’s the highest monthly handle since Mississippi launched legal sports betting in August 2018, breaking the previous record of $67.7m set in January this year ($67.7m). Sports betting revenue in Mississippi hit $9.15m, the year’s highest total and the second-highest on record, trailing only the $12.3m generated in October 2019. Revenue was up 3.4 per cent from $8.85m in September.

The Mississippi Gaming Commission also reported on slot machines and table games. The handle, or drop, at Mississippi’s slot machines was $2.32bn, up 8 per cent from September ($2.15bn). Table games at Mississippi casinos took $170.2m, a 3.5 per cent increase from the previous month’s $164.5m.
