Mississippi sports betting handle decreases in May

The handle declined 23.5 per cent year-over-year.

US.- The Mississippi Gaming Commission (MGC) has reported that the state’s sports betting handle totalled $17.3m in May. That’s a drop of 23.5 per cent year-over-year and down from $18.8m in April.

The Coastal region generated $10.9m in bets, representing more than 60 per cent of the state’s total handle. The Central region generated $4m and the Northern region $2.3m.

Taxable revenue totalled $1.9m. The Coastal region generated $950,153. Basketball generated $121,690, baseball -$32,118 and parlay cards $405,804.

The Central region registered $644,279 in taxable revenue. Parlay cards generated $418,111, basketball $156,927 and baseball $49,405. In the Northern region, taxable revenue totalled $340,680. Basketball generated $25,580, parlay cards $201,165 and baseball $81,781.

Casinos generated $217.9m in adjusted gross gaming revenue, down 2.6 per cent year-over-year, but up from $196m in April. The Coastal region accounted for most of the total revenue at $143.8m.
