Michigan igaming revenue rises year-over-year in January

Revenue increased 7.6 per cent year-over-year but decreased 10.9 per cent from December.

US.- Michigan commercial and tribal operators reported $356.3m in combined online gaming gross receipts and online sports betting gross receipts in January. That’s up 7.6 per cent year-over-year but down 10.9 per cent from December 2025.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) reported that igaming gross receipts totalled $298.3m, while online sports betting gross receipts were $58m. The online sports betting handle was $491.3m, down 4.2 per cent from the previous month.

Combined adjusted gross receipts (AGR) totalled $323.3m: $286.3m from igaming, down 3.5 per cent from December, and $37m from online sports betting, down 39.5 per cent. Year-over-year, igaming AGR increased 22.8 per cent, while online sports betting AGR decreased 32.5 per cent.

Operators reported submitting $57.1m in taxes and payments to the State of Michigan. The three Detroit casinos reported $13.9m in wagering taxes and municipal services fees. Tribal operators reported $7m in payments to governing bodies.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer recently proposed a new per-wager fee for sports betting. Sportsbooks would pay 25 cents for each bet on their first 20m wagers per year, and 50 cents per bet thereafter.
