Michigan igaming revenue increases in April
The figures reflect a 0.9 per cent increase from March.
US.- Michigan’s commercial and tribal internet gaming operators reported a combined total of $290.7m in gross receipts from internet gaming and internet sports betting for April. That reflects a 0.9 per cent increase from March.
According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), igaming gross receipts totalled $248.1m, down 4.6 per cent from March. Gross sports betting receipts were $42.6m, up from $33m. Combined adjusted gross receipts (AGR) reached $259.9m: $233.1m from igaming, down 5.3 per cent, and $26.8m from internet sports betting, up 83.4 per cent.
Year-over-year, igaming AGR rose 33.9 per cent, while sports betting AGR declined 3.6 per cent. The internet sports betting handle was $417.6m, down 12.1 per cent from March’s $475.1m.
Operators reported submitting $49.6m in state taxes and payments. Detroit’s three commercial casinos reported $13.1m in wagering taxes and municipal services fees paid to the City of Detroit.
Michigan regulator takes action against unlicensed online gambling operator
The MGCB has issued a cease-and-desist order to BetUS for offering Internet gaming and sports betting to Michigan residents without a licence. Investigations by the MGCB revealed that BetUS was accepting wagers from residents, including on sports and casino-style games in violation of Michigan’s Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Gaming Control and Revenue Act and the Michigan Penal Code.
