MGM Springfield names new president
After registering the lowest-revenue ever since opening its doors, MGM Springfield has announced that it has replaced its president.
US.- MGM Resorts has announced that President & COO of MGM Northfield Park in Ohio, will replace Michael Mathis as MGM Springfield president. The move comes the month after the facility registered its lowest revenue ever.
Mathis was named president and COO of MGM Springfield back in 2014, just before receiving the licence approval from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. He was a pivotal part of MGM’s negotiations with several towns and cities.
He was removed after the results issued by the local commission, which showed that MGM Springfield brought in US$18.9 million from slots and table games in December.
“His leadership was instrumental in the successful opening of the property and the great relationships we have built with the Springfield community and our partners in New England,” said Jorge Perez, regional portfolio president of MGM Resorts International.
“We are excited to have Chris lead the MGM Springfield team,” said Perez. “Chris’ experience in Ohio, rebranding and integrating a property and introducing MGM to the community, will be an asset for Springfield as we continue to work closely with the community and strive to not only be a world-class entertainment destination but also a good corporate neighbour.”
