Maverick Gaming acquires Washington casinos
The Las Vegas-based company Maverick Gaming has announced the purchase agreements for six casinos in the state of Washington.
US.- Maverick Gaming continues its expansion in the United States, this time by acquiring six casinos located in Washington. The Las Vegas-based company is likely to have 31 casinos in Washington and Nevada once it completes the purchase agreements.
Maverick said that it signed purchase agreements for the Macau Casino in Lakewood, the Macau Casino in Tukwilla, the Caribbean Casino and the Caribbean Cardroom in Kirkland, the Caribbean Casino in Yakima, and the Wizards Casino in Burien. All facilities are located in Washington.
Eric Persson, owner of Maverick, said that the company’s knowledge in sports betting would be beneficial for Washington casinos if the states decide to legalise the gambling modality. “As our footprint grows in Washington, we’re very interested in helping the state see the potential tax revenue sports wagering can generate for Washingtonians. We estimate, if done right, [it] can exceed US$50 million annually,” he said. “We believe Maverick’s geographic diversity coupled with our sports betting expertise make the Maverick properties natural partners with the state in sports wagering.”
The transaction is likely to close in the next month, pending Washington State Gambling Commission approval. The financial terms of the six casino transactions are not public yet.
“We continue our commitment to the State of Washington and the card room industry… Once again our footprint grows in this important market,” said the owner of the company.
“We are quickly becoming an employer of choice in Washington. With over 3,000 jobs – which have an average salary above US$75k and great benefits, we have a great team and are looking forward to investing another US$100 million into this State over the next few years,” said Tim Merrill, President of Maverick Washington.
