Massachusetts casinos generate $101.9m in August gaming revenue
Sports betting operators generated more than $47m in taxable revenue.
U.S.- Massachusetts’ three casinos generated $101.9m in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in August, up from $95.7m in July. Encore Boston Harbor led with $62.8m, followed by MGM Springfield with $23.8m and Plainridge Park with $15.1m, according to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC).
The state recorded $47m in taxable sports wagering revenue from seven mobile operators and three retail sportsbooks.
DraftKings posted the highest August handle at US$ 275.1m, generating $22.8m in taxable revenue. FanDuel followed with US$ 144.4 m in settled wagers, while Fanatics took $62.2m in wagers, BetMGM $48.8m and Caesars $18.2m.
Encore’s retail sportsbook took $2.1m in settled wagers, Plainridge Park US$2.04m and MGM Springfield US$ 600,791.
Mobile operators are taxed at 20 per cent of sports wagering revenue, while the three casinos pay 15 per cent on retail sports betting revenue. For casino gaming, Plainridge Park is taxed at 49 per cent of GGR, compared with 25 per cent for MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor.
