Maryland casinos generated $153m in gaming revenue in January

Maryland’s six casinos saw their revenue increase by nearly 20 per cent year-on-year.

US.- The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission has released gaming revenue figures for January 2022. The state’s six casinos generated $153m in revenue, an increase of $24.9m (19.4 per cent) compared to January 2021, but a 12.4 per cent decrease from December’s figures

The state’s six casinos generated over $45m for Maryland’s Education Trust Fund (ETF), which is $6.2m or 16 per cent more than the ETF contributions during the same period last year. MGM National Harbor topped the ranking generating $67m in revenue, $16.5m (or nearly 33 per cent) more than January 2021.

Live! Casino & Hotel followed with $54.6m in revenues, an increase of more than $6.8m compared to the same time last year. The podium was completed by Horseshoe Casino with $16m, $2.3m more than in January 2021.

Hollywood Casino ($6.6m), Ocean Downs Casino ($4.9m) and Rocky Gap Casino ($4.3m) combined to generate the rest of gaming revenues last month.

Revenue at Hollywood Casino was down 2.8 per cent from January 2021. Ocean Downs Casino also saw a decrease. The casino, which has 815 slot machines and 18 table games, saw revenue fall 12.3 per cent from the same period last year.
