Malta and Italy regulators met in Rome

The gambling regulators from Malta and Italy met in Rome to strengthen collaboration between the entities and discuss regulations.

Italy.- The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has revealed that it met with Italian regulators on Friday. The Director of Customs and Monopolies (‘Agenzia Dogane e Monopoli’), Benedetto Mineo, welcomed and met with the Head of the Maltese Delegation and the Chief Executive Officer of the Malta Gaming Authority, Heathcliff Farrugia, at the Agency’s Headquarters in Piazza Mastai, Rome, Italy.

The meeting, which is part of an attempt to improve collaboration between the regulators, also featured the Heads of both Administrations’ Gambling, Anti-Fraud and International Relations departments.

MGA said that the discussion focused on existing legislation and regulations in regards to land-based and online gaming in the two jurisdictions. “These discussions are fundamental for sharing and enhancing best administrative practices and to collaboratively combat the phenomenon of illicit gambling,” said the MGA.

“The ongoing collaboration between both parties will resume in the nearby future and a Memorandum of Understanding designed to further enhance information sharing and to bolster compliance measures is in the pipeline. The MoU will also lead to further enhancement of anti-fraud measures in the gaming industry,” added the Malta regulator.
