In the run-up to a new edition of iGB L!VE, Focus Gaming News spoke with Magno Neiva, Head of Licensing and Regulatory Compliance at Altenar.
Exclusive interview.- In this exclusive interview with Focus Gaming News, Magno Neiva, head of licensing and regulatory compliance at Altenar, discusses the company’s strategic focus for the remainder of 2025.
Neiva highlights the importance of compliance, localisation, and proactive support for operator partners, offering insights into how Altenar navigates Europe’s complex regulatory landscape while maintaining product innovation and market readiness.
Does Altenar have any new partnerships or certifications in Europe on the horizon?
Altenar possesses a robust European network and is well-positioned to integrate new partners within the region. Strategic partnerships are being cultivated, and our substantial presence in European regulated markets gives us confidence in our continued ability to attract operators.
This success is also attributed to our extensive European certifications. Consequently, both new and existing partners seeking expansion within European jurisdictions can be assured from the outset that Altenar can achieve market readiness with all necessary licenses and certifications promptly.
Looking ahead, Finland, Ireland, and Gibraltar are jurisdictions where we are intensifying our focus.
Given the strict regulations in many European countries, how do you support your operator partners in maintaining both performance and compliance?
Our primary goal is to ensure operators feel fully supported, empowering them to make well-informed decisions regarding their setups in each jurisdiction.
We prioritise clear communication throughout our operations. Before entering any European market, we conduct thorough groundwork to tailor our solutions for optimal adherence to local regulations. Concurrently, we continuously develop our products by involving all relevant teams.
This proactive approach provides confidence in our products’ compliance, certification, and market readiness.
Furthermore, we collaborate closely with our partners from the outset, and try to understand the specific needs and expectations of our operators within complex and regulated markets, ensuring these are reviewed and addressed internally.
“We prioritise clear communication throughout our operations.”

How important is localisation in Europe, not only in terms of language but also odds formats, betting preferences, and cultural habits?
Altenar recognises the distinct nature of European localisation in the betting industry. This uniqueness stems from two key factors: a continent-wide shift in perception towards betting products due to increased regulatory focus on player protection over the last decade, and the individual cultural nuances of each jurisdiction.
Therefore, a universal approach for Europe is insufficient for a sportsbook provider. Altenar believes in a sophisticated strategy that respects each country’s regulatory framework while tailoring offerings to the specific needs and demographics of each market.

Now that we are halfway through the year, what is your assessment of what Altenar has achieved so far?
Altenar demonstrated strong licensing performance at the close of 2024 and the beginning of 2025 by securing manufacturing licences in Denmark and South Africa. Immediately following this achievement, the company addressed the annual certification requirements across all twenty-one of its certified jurisdictions, along with the additional compliance efforts related to Brazil.
A key focus remains onboarding new clients while upholding the satisfaction of existing partners. From a compliance perspective, Altenar’s product is evolving favourably, offering robust compliant configurations that still allow for market competitiveness. This dual strength provides significant added value and is translating into strong market readiness.
Looking ahead, what are Altenar’s key priorities for the next months?
In the regulatory context, where updates often concentrate at the start of each year, there is typically a two-phase division.
While the initial half focuses on updates and maintaining the current state, the latter half shifts towards preparing for upcoming obligations effective near year-end or early 2026, alongside exploring expansion into new markets.
This represents a transition from identifying future trends to assessing implementation strategies.
Also, we can confirm that Altenar remains committed to actively pursuing licences and certifications through the remainder of the year.
