Macau increased casino security
The bureau in charge of the regulations confirmed that six casinos in Macau increased security after the RWM attack.
Macau.- Paulo Martins Chan, director of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), local casino regulator, confirmed that six casinos in the city have increased their security after the authorities recommended the measure.
The request comes after a deadly attack in Resorts World Manila, where 38 people died. Earlier this week, the Philippines Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) confirmed that the casino was suspended over security reasons. The regulatory body released a statement that details that the suspension will remain in effect pending the investigation after finding out that there were serious security lapses during the fires and shooting. The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that Resorts World Manila’s security failed to execute a containment plan during the attack.
Nevertheless, Chan said that Macau is still a low-risk environment. “Certainly, [security] will be strengthened: there will be more security measures and more communication between the operators and the Judiciary Police,” he said, and added that everybody is showing the will to collaborate with DICJ as well as the Judiciary Police.
