Macau GGR off to a good start in August

The first week of August indicated that casinos in Macau experienced gross gaming revenue results of US$542 million.

Macau.- As revealed by a note from investment brokerage company Bernstein, gross gaming revenue (GGR) in Macau reached US$542 million during the first six days of August. Mass volume and VIP also increased from August 1-6.

During that period month to date ADR reached US$90 million, a 1 percent increase when compared to July ADR and 28 percent higher than 2016, as AGBrief reported. Bernstein also said that when assuming and overall ADR gross gaming revenue of US$90 million for the remainder of August, GGR is estimated to reach between US$2.7 billion and US$2.8 billion, a 22 to 25 percent increase year-on-year.

Last week, Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) revealed that the casino sector in the territory, including VIP operations, generated US$2.86 billion in July, meaning that the casino industry has been experiencing good results for a year.

Moreover, it seems like US President Donald Trump and his representatives are ready to bid for a casino license in the Asian gaming hub, as the current ones are starting to expire. DTTM Operations LLC, a company responsible for handling the President’s trademarks, filed four applications in Macau and has awaken all sorts of rumours surrounding the reason of said filings.
