Station Casinos to reopen in phases

Las Vegas operator says job losses will be likely as it expects business to be down following the Covid-19 outbreak.

US.- Las Vegas casino operator, Station Casinos, has said it will open up in phases following the Coronavirus pandemic.

The operator has said that it will gradually open properties once Nevada’s lockdown implementation is eased.

Boulder Station, Green Valley Ranch Resort, Palace Station, Red Rock Resort, Santa Fe, Sunset Station, as well as the Wildfire division, are all said to be within the first phase of reopening.

According to a letter to staff, first reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Station CEO, Frank Fertitta III, said: “We have tried to retain our entire team, but in the face of this continued uncertainty we can no longer do so.

“When we are permitted to reopen, we don’t know what business will look like other than knowing that business levels will be lower as a result of this unprecedented crisis.”

He also added that Station will have “meaningful staffing level reductions” throughout its Nevada venues upon reopening.

Staff cuts will also take place within the corporate office, as well as “significant reductions” at resort casinos that will reopen at a later date.

In April, Station announced that it had cut the salaries of senior executives to fight the financial impact of lockdown measures.
