Las Vegas is focused on sports betting
Las Vegas hosted the Ultimate Sports Weekend, showing huge interest in sports betting.
US.- On Wednesday 28th February, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) partnered with four major sports organisations to host the Ultimate Vegas Sports Weekend pep rally at Toshiba Plaza in front of the T-Mobile Arena. Complete with a band, cheerleaders and mascots, the pep rally revved up fans for one of the biggest sports weekends at the destination. The new focus on sports sectors is related to the city’s growth of sports betting offerings and demands.
Hosted by Fox Sports NASCAR reporter and Las Vegas product Jamie Little, the rally highlighted the weekend events, featuring a NASCAR triple-header weekend, the USA Sevens Rugby tournament, the Vegas Golden Knights hosting the Ottawa Senators and UFC 222. The LVCVA is partnered with MGM Resorts International to host the pep rally.
The pep rally featured displays, interactive activities, merchandise and tickets for the various events and was highlighted by appearances and presentations from personalities and athletes from each sport, while fans had the chance to win VIP packages.
Sports stars appearing included: Noah Gragson, driver in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series; UFC star Forrest Griffin and Ultimate Fighter Captains Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier; comedian Paul Scally and team captains from the USA Sevens Rugby teams; various event mascots; the Golden Knights drumline and more.
The action continued on Thursday March 1st, with the return of the NASCAR hauler parade down the Las Vegas Strip and the USA Sevens Parade of Nations at the Fremont Street Experience. The sports action kicked-off on Friday and continued throughout the weekend with a jam-packed schedule.
Las Vegas sports action only gets bigger throughout March as the city becomes the centre of the basketball world, with the Pac-12, Mountain West, West Coast and Western Athletic conferences holding their annual tournaments. All of that leads up to the opening weekend of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, which draws big crowds to watch their favourite teams in action.
Las Vegas is well-known across the world for its casino services, but the city is now profiling more prominently its sports betting activities, as only Nevada and three more states are allowed to provide this kind of gaming.
