Kansas Senate approves sports betting bill

Sports betting is a step from being legalised in the state after the Senate passed Bill 84 to Gov. Laura Kelly.

US.- Kansas sports betting is a step from being legalised after the Senate passed Senate Bill 84 to Governor Laura Kelly. Kansas, which does not allow sports wagering, introduced the bill in 2020. 

Last week, the Senate and House of Representatives voted in favour of the measure. The Senate voted by 21 to 13, after the House of Representatives voted 73 to 49.

The bill would allow the state-owned casinos in Dodge City, Pittsburg, Mulvane and Kansas City, which are under the control of the Kansas Lottery, to operate sportsbooks. Up to three online sports betting operators would be allowed per casino.

The bill passed by Senators and Congress Officials sets state tax at 10% on every bet.  The measure also includes online sports betting, via online or mobile app.
