US.- Iowa has recorded a sports betting handle of $108.4m for August, up 21.9 per cent from July’s $88.9m, according to figures from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.

After four months of lower handles, the state registered an increase in sports betting activity for the first time since March. The handle was also up 115.5 per cent compared to August 2020, when sports began to recommence after the initial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Online sports betting made up the majority of the market, with the mobile sports betting handle at $96.1m, up 23.3 per cent from July’s $77.9m. The August win rate was 6.1 per cent, nearly two full percentage points lower than July (7.98 per cent). As a result, revenues slipped 6.9 per cent month-on-month to just over $6.6m.
