US.- The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission has reported a sports betting handle of $303.3m for January, marking the first time the state has passed the $300m mark in 30 months of legal wagering. The previous record was $287.2m in November. Gross revenue was $14.3m, a 25.8 per cent increase year-on-year.

The amount wagered was up 102.9 per cent from January 2021’s $149.5m. Mobile betting customers wagered $275.9m, up 128.4 per cent. Caesars took $112.7m in bets through its mobile sportsbook. DraftKings reported $68.9m in mobile wagers, and FanDuel $44.1m.

The retail handle declined by 4.5 per cent to $27.5m. Diamond Jo Casino in Worth took nearly $8.7m wagered, up from $7.2m in January 2021. Its 6 per cent hold resulted in nearly $520,000 in revenue.

Penn National’s Ameristar II in Council Bluffs reported $5.4m in wagers at its Barstool Sportsbook, and the Caesars Sportsbook at Horseshoe Casino Council Bluffs registered $3.9m.
