Indiana sports betting handle decreases year-over-year in January

The handle declined 2.9 per cent from the same period in 2025.

US.- The Indiana Gaming Commission has released gaming figures for January. The sports betting handle totalled $523,4m, down 2.9 per cent year-over-year. Taxable adjusted gross revenue (AGR) was $49.3m.

According to the report, Ameristar Casino led the market with a $188.2m handle and $15.3m in AGR, followed by Blue Chip Casino with a $153.7m handle and $19m in AGR. Hollywood Lawrenceburg reported a $46.4m handle and $4.1m in AGR, while Belterra Casino posted $45.6m and $2.4m and French Lick Resort $38.9m and $4.3m. Tax totalled $4.7m.

Parlays led the market with $176.1m in bets, followed by basketball with $160.7m. Football generated a $93.7m handle and baseball $117,582.

Indiana House passes bill to ban sweepstakes casinos

The Indiana House of Representatives recently approved House Bill 1052 in a 87-11 vote. The bill has now moved to the Senate for consideration.

The legislation, co-sponsored by committee chair Rep. Ethan Manning, Rep. Peggy Mayfield and Rep. Justin Moed, would impose a civil penalty of up to $100,000 on operators of sweepstakes games in Indiana. It was previously amended to downgrade proposed penalties from criminal to civil and to change the definition of sweepstakes from “dual-currency” to “multi-currency”.
