Indiana approves plans for Horseshoe casino
The state gaming commission approved the casino’s plans to move its riverboat casino inland.
US.- The Indiana Gaming Commission has revealed that it approved on Tuesday Horseshoe Southern Indiana’s plans to move its riverboat casino operations inland with the construction of a US$85 million facility.
The project that is set to be built in Elizabeth, Indiana, has received unanimous approval. The petition filed by Caesars Entertainment was possible thanks to a 2015 law that established that riverboat casinos can move to land as long as they stay within their existing footprint.
Caesars said that the Elizabeth project is set to connect to Horseshoe’s current pavilion, which houses restaurants and stores. The facility located near Louisville, Kentucky, will feature restaurants, retail options and one entertainment venue. Moreover, the project also includes renovations to existing meeting and convention space. The casino that could open its doors as soon as 2019 is in the final stages of design.
Brad Seigel, senior vice president and general manager of the property, said in a statement that by moving the casino operations to a new building, they can offer guests a fresh, new modern casino and an enhanced experience. “Integrating the food, entertainment and gaming outlets in one area builds upon the high-quality experience that guests expect from our property.”
“This project further demonstrates our continued enthusiasm for and commitment to the State,” Siegel said. “We appreciate the Commission’s decision today and look forward to continuing our positive working relationships at the State and local level.”
