Illinois is positive about iGaming law

Illinois showed an open perspective about implementing a new legislation on iGaming industry.

US.- A new gaming framework could be soon a reality in Illinois, as officials commented before yesterday’s meeting at the state’s House Executive Committee. Legislators shared a positive perspective about legalising the online gaming sector, including daily fantasy sports, and expanding the current land-based casino industry.

The bill evaluated by the special Committee has already been approved by the Illinois Senate and would legalise online casinos, sports betting and online poker platforms. The iGaming services would be operated by local existing casinos and racetracks under a expansion of their gaming licenses.

Furthermore, the Illinois Gaming Board would be required to create a Division of Internet Gaming to regulate the operations. Under the Illinois legislature, DFS and iGaming operators would contribute to the state’s funds following a standard measure based on gross revenue. Players under 21 years old and professional sports players would be banned from any kind of gaming platforms and the state would offer assistance at problem gambling.

As reported yesterday, the Illinois House Executive Committee is gathering information throughout this week’s sessions to debate on the potential legalisation of online gaming industry. The iGaming legislation aims at growing the Illinois State’s funds in order to secure a better economic situation.
