ICE Barcelona 2026 recap: record attendance and key highlights
ICE Barcelona 2026 concluded with record-breaking attendance, setting the gaming industry’s agenda for a transformative year ahead.
Spain.- A new edition of ICE, the second to be held in the city of Barcelona, has drawn to a close and once again proved to be a record-breaking event: more than 65,000 visitors from over 180 countries, 750 exhibitors showcasing more than 25,000 products, 200 speakers taking part in workshops, debates and conferences covering a wide range of topics of critical importance to the industry, and the presence of more than 300 regulators made this one of the most significant editions to date, laying the foundations for what will undoubtedly be a highly active year for the sector.
For Focus Gaming News, ICE Barcelona 2026 also marked an important milestone. Throughout the three days of the event, the team reconnected with long-standing partners, opened new commercial conversations, and presented the media outlet’s new visual identity as part of its 10th anniversary. Visitors to Focus Gaming News booth were also introduced to myFocus, the new platform that garnered very positive feedback from partners and readers, and that is part of an ambitious roadmap the outlet has set for the year ahead.
Day One recap: the launch of World Gaming Week and the power of play
Under the theme “Growing the Power of Play”, the 2026 edition of ICE Barcelona kicked off on January 19, with the opening address by Soo Kim, president of Bally’s Corporation, the first round of the EAFC tournament and the inauguration of Casa Brasil standing out as the highlights of the day.
In addition, a series of sessions under the umbrella of the World Gaming Forum conference began, addressing topics such as the opening of new markets, the future of sports betting, regulation and the challenges involved in incorporating new technologies, among others. A noteworthy fireside chat with Jennifer Carleton of the GCGRA also took place, offering a valuable insight into regulatory leadership, while industry heavyweights explored what lies ahead in the “Global M&A Landscape 2026” panel.
Day two recap: innovation, regulation and star power shape the agenda
Day two of the event was marked by the staging of Pitch ICE, the platform that gives start-ups the opportunity to present their boldest ideas directly to industry leaders and investors. In addition, on the New Enterprise Stage, the ICE Innovators Challenge showcased a wide range of innovative and more secure solutions for gaming, designed to raise industry standards.
Star appearances included Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, GothamChess, and football legends such as John Terry, Henrik Larsson, Hristo Stoichkov, Johan Mjällby, Luís Figo, and Alessandro Del Piero.
Of course, there was no shortage of debates and conferences on regulation, the future of sports betting, emerging markets, and responsible gaming, which laid out the roadmap for what will undoubtedly be a 2026 full of challenges and new developments for the industry.
Day three recap: knowledge, responsibility and networking wrap up an electrifying week
The third and final day of the fair opened with talks on artificial intelligence, payment gateways, data on industry growth and future prospects, and informative discussions on how new technologies are driving the future of gaming globally.
The ICE Esports Arena offered one last dose of action with the ‘Beat the Pro’ challenges, which included penalty shootouts, skill tests and full matches that kept the audience entertained until the final whistle.
Meanwhile, at Casa Brasil, the week ended on a high note with a farewell drink, celebrating Brazil’s growing influence on the global gaming scene and the strong connections established throughout the show.
There were also workshops on cybercrime and fraud, entering new markets and safer gaming, and in the Sustainable Gaming Zone, discussions continued on new regulations in the sector.
Looking ahead: ICE Barcelona 2027
As soon as this year’s edition concluded, Clarion Gaming announced the next edition, scheduled for 18–20 January 2027. Organisers and attendees already anticipate another record-breaking show, set to deepen the “Barcelona effect” and reinforce the city’s role as a global meeting point for the gaming industry.
