US.- Silver Slipper Casino Hotel in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, has closed due to Hurricane Ida. The casino has been evacuated to safeguard employees and visitors. It expects to reopen on August 31.

The Gaming Commission has ordered all casinos in South Mississippi to close due to tropical weather several times in the past. In 2020, about 100 Silver Slipper Casino employees had to be evacuated due to the floods caused by tropical storm Cristobal.

In July, some casinos in Mississippi decided to require that employees wear face masks while working indoors. The decision follows a recommendation from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and guidance from Mississippi state health officials.
