Hollywood Casino against gambling expansion
The Pennsylvanian casino is worried that the new law that expands gambling in the state could jeopardise operations.
US.- Management of Hollywood Casino is worried that the new law that allows 10 satellite casinos to be added at least 25 miles away from current casinos would hurt the local business, as residents could lose their jobs.
Hollywood Casino VP of Marketing Fred Lipkin said: “If our business was to decline, the brick and mortar or Hollywood Casino, we would be giving less to the horse racing purse fund. For satellite casinos, it’s not written or designated that any of their money would be for horse racing purses.”
“Hollywood Casino is a unique entertainment experience in central PA. We have gaming, live music on the weekends, wonderful dining with Final Cut Steakhouse as our star attraction, and horse racing year round. It’s one of a kind,” he added. Lipkin also said that he’s worried for the 1000 employees that the facility has.
Municipalities have to decide whether a casino is okay for them or not and under the new law the resolution prohibiting casinos has a January 1 deadline. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is set to hold the first blind auction for one of the casino licenses on January 16. The minimum bid is set on US$7.5 million and only local casino owners can submit their offers.
