Hard Rock Atlantic City obtains casino licence
New Jersey regulators granted a casino licence to the facility expected to open its doors on June 28th.
US.- The Casino Control Commission from New Jersey unanimously approved Hard Rock’s application for a casino licence for the former Trump Taj Mahal. The regulator gave Hard Rock the green light necessary to open its doors on June 28th after a three-hour public hearing on Wednesday.
Key casino employees also received licences by the commission, including Hard Rock International Chairman Jim Allen, Hard Rock International Chief Operating Officer Jon Lucas, Property President Matt Harkness along with principle investors Joseph Jingoli and Jack Morris, local media reported.
James Plousis, Commission Chairman, said that he has confidence in Hard Rock’s financial stability to help the city start its path to recovery. “I, for one, am placing a great deal of confidence in you, Mr Allen, and your team. We all know Atlantic City needs to broaden its appeal and bring people here for a lot more than just gambling. It appears that you and Hard Rock will try to do just that.”
Allen also announced Pitbull and Carrie Underwood as the opening weekend acts. “The brand itself is about entertainment. Within these amenities we certainly offer hotel, dining, and other experiences, but there is one universal language and that’s music. We are the only brand that works to bring people together through music.”
Hard Rock Atlantic City is one of the two casinos re-opening in Atlantic City next month, as Ocean Resort Casino executives officially announced that the facility is also set to open on June 28th.
The authorities said that they picked that day because they believe it will be a special one for Atlantic City, as it is expected that the two openings will help the city improve its revenues and boost the local industry. Between Hard Rock and Ocean Resort, Atlantic City is expected to recover 6,000 of the 11,000 jobs that were lost since 2014 due to these shutdowns.
