GVC pulls Ladbrokes and Coral from Oddschecker
The UK gambling giant has caused surprise by pulling its brands from the Oddschecker pricing grid as of today.
UK.- GVC, owner of two of the UK’s biggest names in betting, is pulling its brands from Flutter’s Oddschecker affiliate platform.
Its brands Ladbrokes, Coral and Betdaq are expected to be removed from Oddchecker’s pricing grid from today (Thursday) after the companies failed to agree on pricing to renew the contract for the three brands, which was signed nearly two years ago.
Oddschecker is an affiliate firm that offers a pricing grid allowing punters to check the value of specific events across different operators.
Operators pay a set monthly fee to advertise on the grid depending on their size and position on the table, plus a revenue-share fee for each customer referral.
Ladbrokes and Coral are two of the biggest names on the grid, currently ranked third and tenth respectively – a record position for Ladbrokes which previously left Oddschecker for just under a year in 2011.
GVC said: “We would like to wish Oddschecker the best of luck and thank them for the positive relationship we’ve enjoyed over the years we’ve worked together.
“Sadly, we couldn’t agree commercial terms to renew the relationship so as of the 9 July our UK digital brands will no longer feature on the service.”
GVC’s Sportingbet brand will continue to feature on the platform because it’s subject to a separate contract.
Oddschecker’s Media Chief, Toby Bentall, said the door would be open for GVC’s brands to return.
EGR quoted him as saying: “It’s disappointing to no longer be working with Ladbrokes, Coral and Betdaq. However, Oddschecker needs to maintain a careful balance between serving its users with the best odds and offers while ensuring its business relationships are of sufficient commercial viability to allow investment in the market-leading products and technology expected of the UK’s number one odds comparison site.
“Oddschecker sincerely hopes to work with Ladbrokes, Coral and Betdaq again in the future.”
