US.- Graton Resort & Casino in California will open the next phase of its $1bn expansion on May 4. The renovation will include new dining, entertainment, and gaming spaces.

The resort’s 144,000-square-foot, non-smoking casino will offer a poker room, a high-limit slots lounge, and nearly 2,000 new slot machines. A new Playbook Sports Bar will feature wall-to-wall screens.

Renovations also include the resort’s first rooftop restaurant and a doughnut and dessert shop. Roy Ellamar and VP of culinary operations Jennifer Murphy-Ellamar will lead food and beverage concepts. Later this year, the resort will add additional food and beverage offerings and a new nightlife experience.

A new hotel tower with 200 guest rooms will open in 2027. This project adds two new hotel wings featuring 220 new rooms, an expanded lobby shop, and a new private VIP entrance. There will also be a new adults-only pool and 12 cabanas. The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria held a groundbreaking ceremony in June 2025. The work continues a $1bn expansion that began in 2023.

Greg Sarris, Tribal chairman, said: “Graton’s expansion marks a defining milestone for the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria and our entire community. We’re bringing new ideas and experiences to the region that showcase the incredible culinary talent, local ingredients and sense of place that define Sonoma County. This growth creates hundreds of local jobs and reinforces our long-term commitment to building a world-class destination that gives back to the region that has supported us.”

Acorn Ridge Casino opened in Plymouth, Northern California, in February. The new 60,000-square-foot venue was developed by the Ione Band of Miwok Indians in partnership with Sierra Entertainment.

The property features an outdoor entertainment venue and a gaming space with 484 slot machines and 12 table games. It also offers dining options and a bar. It is the third tribal casino in Amador County, joining Jackson Rancheria and Harrah’s Northern California.
