Goa’s Minister advocates for casino strip
The official said that offshore casinos should be disbanded and a casino strip should be created in the Panaji coastline.
India.- Goa’s Agriculture Minister Vijai Sardesai said on Sunday that offshore casinos operating in the Mandovi river should be removed and the Panaji coastline should be developed in the Panaji coastline, on the lines of the Hong Kong harbour.
“The casinos housed in ships should be removed because it causes pollution and the harbour should be developed on both sides like the Hong Kong harbour. There should be a tourism circuit. This has always been our demand,” Sardesai said after he responded to news claiming that the government was working on a casino policy to create “casino towns” in the coastal state.
Back in September, the local government granted once again a new extension to casino operators, allowing them to keep operating until March 30, 2019. Moreover, at the beginning of 2018, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar revealed that starting from 2019, native Goans will be banned from entering casinos.
