GeoComply records 80.1m betting transactions on Super Bowl weekend
According to the geolocation technology specialist, the number of transactions in the US was 226 per cent higher than in 2021.
US.- The geolocation technology specialist GeoComply has reported that 80.1m betting transactions took place over the Super Bowl weekend in the US. That’s an increase of 226 per cent compared to 2021 after a year that’s seen a huge expansion in legal online sports betting in the US.
According to Geocomply, between Saturday (January 12) evening and the halftime period on Sunday (January 13), 68.2 million transactions took place.
Prior to Sunday´s match, the American Gaming Association released research that showed that a record 31.4 million American adults were planning to bet on Super Bowl LVI, a 35 per cent increase from 2021. It was estimated that bettors would wager $7.61bn on this year’s game, up to $3.33bn (78 per cent) from last year.
The Super Bowl LVI was won by the Los Angeles Rams, who beat the Cincinnati Bengals by 23-20 to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
