Gateway starts casino construction in North Bay
The upcoming facility from Gateway Casinos is expected to open its doors to the public in North Bay by mid-July 2020.
Canada.- Cascades Casino North Bay officially started the construction of the facility on Friday. Officials from North Bay and the province marked the official groundbreaking with a ceremony at the future site of the Gateway Casinos facility.
The project, which is worth US$31 million, will create up to 300 jobs once it’s finished and be open by mid-July 2020. The location of the casino had been confirmed by Gateway in April. The 7.3-acre parcel of land is just off Highway 11 adjacent to Nipissing Junction.
North Bay Mayor Al McDonald said: “It has been a long process, a lot of public consultation, a lot of debate in our community. But at the end of the day, council chose to move forward and we’re here today on the groundbreaking of a US$31 million facility and some of the other components that are going to come along with it.”
Gateway also focuses on Cascades Casino Delta
The company also announced in April that the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure had approved the civil works plan for Cascades Casino Delta. The mid-size gaming and entertainment venue is scheduled to open in 2020. The project will be located on the old Delta Town & Country Inn site. It was the only suitable site, according to the city council, which provided its approval in May 2018, as it is far from residential neighbourhoods and close to major transportation corridors.
