Gateway held grand opening of Cascades Chatham
Gateway Casinos hosted the grand opening ceremony of the Cascades Casino Chatham on Thursday.
US.- Gateway Casinos Entertainment held on Thursday the grand opening of the Cascades Casinos Chatham. The ceremony kicked off six days of events to commemorate the opening of the newest entertainment facility in the Canadian municipality.
The Cascades Casino held a soft opening for the public on July 18 and received hundreds of visitors. The US$30 million venue brought over 300 slots and 10 table games to the Ontario town and created over 200 new jobs for the city.
The ceremony hosted a number of Gateway officials, along with Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff. Chatham-Kent Leamington MPP Rick Nicholls and Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation Chief Operating Officer Lori Sullivan were also in attendance.
Sullivan finished the ceremony by presenting the Mayor with a cheque of US$884k for the 2019 fiscal year. The money comes from the gaming revenue of the now-closed Gateway Casinos Dresden.
“This far exceeded our expectations and people are really pumped… We’ve been packed every night,” said Rob Mitchell, Gateway’s director of communications and public affairs. “It’s pretty exciting, we’ve got live entertainment [and] we want to keep the excitement going for the next six days.”
