GamCare launches new code of conduct for UK operators
The responsible gambling charity has developed the code with the Betting and Gambling Council.
UK.- GamCare has launched a new code of conduct for UK licensed gaming operators in cooperation with the industry trade body the Betting and Gambling Council (BGC).
The new code aims to ensure licensed gambling operators provide transparent information on safer gambling tools and support services across all of the products in their portfolios.

The code takes into account guidance that came from GamCare’s lived experience group on gambling harms, which found that more consistency was needed on how safer gambling messages and information are displayed to customers to reduce friction in the process of seeking help.
It aims to make safer gambling tools easier to understand and to promote specialist support services from the National Gambling Treatment Service programme.
Covering the display of on-site information, the code includes guidelines on the visibility and consistency of public information. Operators should prioritise displaying the following information on gambling sites and apps:
- The gambling business’s own safer gambling section or microsite
- The begambleaware.org website
- The National Gambling Helpline on freephone 0808 8020 133
Licensed operators must guarantee the integration of safer gambling tools within their customer journeys, and ensure there is no friction on the path, regardless of the player of risk profile.

They must also ensure that safer gambling information is presented in a concise and easy to understand form.
The BGC said its members would need to comply with the new code by August.
