Galaxy Ent wants a Japanese license
The casino operator is confident that it will get one of the three licenses that the Asian country will offer.
Japan.- As the legal gambling industry was legalised in Japan a few months ago, casino and resorts operators keep showing their interest in obtaining a license in the newest Asian market. Specialists said that it is estimated that the Gross Gaming Revenue would exceed US$10 billion from the get-go countrywide.
Deputy Chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Lui You Tung said that the company studied the upcoming market and that they’re very confident that they will get a license to operate a gambling facility in either Osaka or Tokyo. The Hong Kong Economic Times interviewed the official and he confirmed that they’re waiting for the right time before they can start creating plans. “The Lui family’s long-term development history in the country gives us advantages. We’re very confident,” he added.
Galaxy Entertainment is joining a list of operators that expressed their intentions to work in the newest Asian market: Melco Crown, Genting, Las Vegas Sands, MGM and Hard Rock are among the companies that already expressed their desire to land a license in the country to operate their services. Japan will wait to launch its industry until 2023, and lawmakers estimate that initially there will only be three licenses issued in the Asian country, which will be announced in two years.
