Flutter announces winners of Tech4Good Awards
The winners will receive support from the gaming operator’s Alpha Hub startup programme.
UK.- Flutter Entertainment has announced the winners of its latest Tech4Good Awards. The initiative, by the gambling operator’s Alpha Hub startup programme and its community-focused partnership with Beyond Sport, has granted prizes to two tech startups as it aims to highlight its social contributions at a time when lawmakers push for new gambling advertising restrictions in the UK.
The first prize in the latest initiative went to GoodGym, which encourages runners, walkers and cyclists to complete community tasks while exercising. Founded in 2009, the startup is now active across 68 UK regions and is known for its AI-powered tool Coach, which helps users discover local activities and strengthen community ties.
In second place is Civic Dollars, a Belfast-based organisation that developed a geo-fencing community currency app that rewards outdoor activity. Users earn “Civic Dollars” for every 30 minutes spent in public spaces, redeemable for health courses or donations to local charities.
Tech4Good Awards has a combined £60,000 fund and offers tailored support from Alpha Hub and Beyond Sport.
Adam Burgess, Director of Programmes at Beyond Sport, said: “By combining funding with tailored capability building support, these awards help organisations use technology to scale solutions that increase physical activity and deliver lasting health and community outcomes.”
Flutter launched Alpha Hub in 2018 to connect emerging companies with its brands, including FanDuel in the US and Sky Bet and Paddy Power in the UK and Ireland. Its collaborations have spanned responsible gaming, female-focused product development, and more recently, horse racing technology through the Future of Racing Summit with the British Horseracing Authority (BHA).
