FanDuel to go live in West Virginia
The Lottery Commission granted a licence for the Irish company, which will now offer its services in two different states.
US.- The West Virginia Lottery Commission has granted FanDuel a management services provider interim licence to open up a sportsbook in the state, managing general counsel Danielle Boyd confirmed. The company is set to deploy its business at The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, with which it signed a partnership back in June.
Despite FanDuel receiving the permit, The Greenbrier has not received its own operator licence, which is why the sports betting company is cautious around a potential launch date. “We had hoped everyone would launch at the same time and everyone would be up at the beginning of football season,” Boyd said on MetroNews and added: “As we move forward, it appears that we’re going to have sort of a phased launch and it’s going to be a tiered approach. We’re just really excited to see that Charles Town will be ready to launch by September 1st.”
FanDuel began operating in New Jersey at the Meadowlands Racetrack back in mid-July. However, it is still unclear when it will begin doing so in West Virginia, as all it needs for being clear to do so is The Greenbrier to pay the US$100,000 licence fee in order to get the permit.
