FanDuel leads sportsbooks in July

The Meadowlands Racetrack partner took the top spot in New Jersey during the first full month of the segment in the state.

US.- Sports betting has been legalised in New Jersey after the Supreme Court struck PASPA down and it’s already thriving in gaming venues across the state. However, the most successful operator during July, the first month of the segment’s operations, has been FanDuel, which topped sportsbooks as it posted about a third of all revenue in New Jersey.

The sector was legalised during mid-June and July (the first full month of operations) had sportsbooks taking US$40.6 million in wagers. Meanwhile, gross gaming revenue reached a combined US$3.8 million, barely higher than the US$3.6 million reported for the portion of June after it began operating.

Regarding FanDuel, its brick-and-mortar sportsbook at Meadowlands Racetrack opened shop on July 14th but was the most successful venue in the area after reaching US$1.36 million in revenue. William Hill’s partners, Monmouth Park and the Borgata casino, couldn’t perform as well and saw their figures go down month-on-month nearly 66 per cent from US$2.28 million to US$856,000 (Monmouth) and 42 per cent to US$563,000 (Borgata).

“We are very pleased with the first month of the FanDuel Sportsbook in New Jersey,” FanDuel representatives told iGamingBusiness and added: “We are thrilled that customers are enjoying their experience at the FanDuel Sportsbook at the New Meadowlands Racetrack, and are excited to commence the football season and the opening of our permanent facility.”
