The mean pay gap increased to 16.2 per cent. Entain CEO Jette Nygaard-Andersen was paid £2.53m in 2021.

UK.- Entain has hailed the reduction of its median gender pay gap from 7.1 per cent in 2020 to 5.3 per cent in 2021 when calculated hourly. That’s about a third of the UK’s national average. However the mean hourly pay gap increased from 15 per cent to 16.2 per cent.

However, a contributing factor to that new level of equality is the pay packet of CEO Jette Nygaard-Andersen, who replaced Shay Segev in January 2021 after Segev left to move to DAZN. Nygaard-Andersen received £2.53m in salary and bonuses.

The majority of Entain staff in the lower quartile and two middle pay quartiles are women, but only 39.1 per cent in the upper quartile. The median bonus pay leapt from 13 per cent to 59.6 per cent because many bonuses were deferred in 2020 – 69.6 per cent of men and 62.8 per cent of women at Entain took home a bonus in 2021, compared to 40.9 per cent and 40 per cent in 2020.

Nygaard-Andersen said: “At Entain our vision is to create a ‘best place to work’ where our colleagues feel valued, respected, and engaged, and to ensure that this is reflected in the way they are rewarded.

“We are pleased to report that our median hourly pay gap has reduced to 5.3 per cent from 7.1 per cent – substantially lower than the national average of 15.4 per cent. This reflects the gender parity in our retail business where 54 per cent of our colleagues are female.”

Nygaard-Andersen heralded initiatives like the diversity and technology programme EnTrain as part of its work to improve opportunities for women.

She said: “While we are encouraged by this, we take nothing for granted and have put in place programmes and policies such as EnTrain and Women@Entain which will help us continue on this journey.

“This approach to diversity, equity and inclusion is vital to our purpose of revolutionising betting and gaming interactive entertainment.”
