El Cortez Casino begins transition to over 21s policy
The iconic Las Vegas casino will begin its transition to an over 21s policy starting with hotel guests on April 1.
US.- The iconic El Cortez Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas is to adopt a 21-and-older age limit for guests and gamblers. The venue will begin a transition starting with hotel guests on April 1.
The change comes in the final stages of the hotel and casino’s $25m refurb. El Cortez casino is the oldest continuously running downtown Las Vegas gaming venue and celebrated its 80th anniversary in November.
For all hotel stays booked for April 1 and beyond, guests must be 21 years or older with valid identification. The next phase of the new policy will limit the entire property to over 21s only, including food and beverage outlets. Identification checks will be made at entrances
Adam Wiesberg, El Cortez Hotel & Casino general manager, said: “This transition comes after careful consideration and decades of trying to accommodate minors in a property that is focused primarily on gaming and popular casino bars.
“El Cortez offers an action-packed casino floor with 700 slot machines and 25 table games, all with great odds for our adult players to enjoy in a historic, one-of-a-kind setting.
“While Las Vegas has grown and adapted to cater to all demographics, El Cortez remains a traditional gambling house with great gaming odds and an indescribable feeling of stepping back in time. El Cortez is the spot where adults have gathered to enjoy a cocktail or two and try their luck in the casino for over 80 years.”
