DraftKings plans to launch online sports betting and casino products in Alberta
The Canadian province will launch regulated online gaming on July 13.
US.- DraftKings has announced its intent to launch its online sports betting and casino products in Alberta, pending regulatory approval, when regulated online gaming launches in the Canadian province on July 13. Eligible residents can pre-register.
Alberta would represent the second province in Canada where DraftKings operates mobile sports betting and casino products, after Ontario. It would be its 34th jurisdiction in North America for online sports betting and the seventh for online casino.
Greg Karamitis, executive vice president and general manager of sports at DraftKings, said: “We’re excited about the opportunity to expand DraftKings’ footprint in Canada and bring our online sportsbook and casino experiences to customers in Alberta. With the anticipated launch aligning with the World Cup — hosted right here in North America — it’s a particularly exciting moment for sports fans in the province to engage with our platform.”
Caesars Entertainment has also opened pre-registration in Alberta. The province opened igaming registrations for operators and service providers in January. In February, the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) announced a partnership with the Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) that will make RG Check accreditation a requirement for all online gaming sites.
