Detroit casino revenue down in February
According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board, Detroit casinos posted revenues three per cent down in the first two months of the year.
US.- Detroit’s three casinos have been underperforming during the beginning of 2018 as they continue to post lower revenues year-on-year. According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), income during February was down in comparison to the same month last year and, adding it up with January’s results, casino revenue was three per cent lower this year.
During February, monthly revenue at Greektown Casino dropped by more than 9 per cent year-on-year and barely reached US$26 million. Meanwhile, MotorCity Casino posted revenue 5.6 per cent lower as it raked just over US$38 million. MGM Grand’s revenue was also down in comparison to February 2017 as it reached US$46 million, 4.7 per cent less.
In January, the MGCB reported that all three casinos reached a total of US$111 million. MGM Grand Detroit reported monthly revenue of US$47 million, MotorCity achieved US$38 million, while Greektown’s was around US$25 million.
Last year, all three casinos reported US$ 1.4 billion in aggregate revenue. Slot machines brought in US$1.14 billion – which accounted for 81 per cent of total revenue – while table games took in US$260 million.
