Denmark’s online casino revenue rises in Q1
The gambling industry increased revenues during the first quarter of the year, driven by a good online casino performance.
Denmark.- The regulatory agency from Denmark, Spillemyndigheden, revealed on Thursday the latest figures that show Danish-licensed operators generated gross gaming revenue of €226 million during the first quarter of the year.
The number registered in the three month period is an 8.9 per cent increase from the same period in 2017, but a seven per cent decrease from the fourth quarter of last year. Sports betting was once again the dominant vertical with revenue rising seven per cent year-on-year to €74,5 million. However, the number was 22 per cent lower than the previous quarter.
Online casino-generated revenue was €69.8 million, which represents a 25.5 per cent increase year-on-year and an 8.7 per cent rise when compared to Q417. Mobile betting claims the largest slice of the revenue with 49.9 per cent, followed by land-based with a 35.5 per cent and desktop with a 14.9 per cent share.
While slots are still the dominant online casino product at 66.5 per cent, land-based gaming machines saw their revenue decrease 3.6 per cent to €49,6 million. The seven casinos reported flat results at €12.4 million.
